"Consideration is given to the Report of Mr. LISTER, Acting Registrar General, on a Petition of the Widow surnamed Shü, praying for relief in consequence of the death by drowning of her son LEW-KAT, who was her only support. It appears that this case is the one which was tried at the last Criminal Sessions of the Supreme Court, and in which one JOHN HENRY SHATSWELL was found guilty of Manslaughter and fined $500,
--a sum which he has since paid.
"It further appears that the statement of the woman as to her real distress is corroborated by the Report of Mr. LISTER.
"Under these circumstances, it is unanimously Resolved that an allowance of $5 per mensem be paid to the Petitioner, until further Notice, out of the Fine of $500 lodged in the Colonial Treasury."
(True Extract.)
